How can stress affect fertility?

Stress can be defined as an emotional experience that leads to hormonal changes in your body. It is the body’s reaction to a challenge or demand. There are a lot of types of stress but now I’m referring to chronic stress. It usually appears when natural stress response goes wild and causes a physical, emotional and mental imbalance.  Even though stress is not the only factor which reduces fertility it is of big importance.

Research shows that high cortisol levels can cause your fertility hormones to weaken. Also it may disrupt the implantation. It is demonstrated as well that women who reported stress had higher levels of cortisol and alpha-amylase levels, which are associated to  a longer time-to-pregnancy.

According to Ayurveda medicine, stress is the main cause of wellbeing. Stress immerses us into a “survival mode” which can debilitate us and drain our energy, physically, mentally and emotionally.
